Continental Inc is looking to hire Process/Mechanical Engineers in Elwood, Indiana. This position plans and designs methods to improve quality and efficiencies through continuous improvement and standard work practices.


 

Responsibilities

  • Improve production line processes and efficiencies.
  • Troubleshooting of line issues to find root cause and apply countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Continuous improvement for quality, productivity, and scrap.
  • Coordinate multi-department improvement teams for production lines.
  • Support daily production needs.
  • Create standard work practices for production lines.
  • Assist in integration of new manufacturing processes to the plant floor.
  • Assist in new model launches for both new production lines and modifications to existing lines.
  • Assist in the design of error proof techniques for quality improvement.
  • Assist in design changes to current production processes.
  • Support downtime if the engineer is designated as a production/manufacturing engineer
  • Support layouts if engineer is designated as an industrial engineer position
  • Support machine moves if engineer is designated as industrial engineer position
  • Support machines and processes if engineer has designated lines in the plant.
  • Support high tech automation projects if engineer is designated to support high tech. machinery
  • Support time studies as needed
  • Other job assignments as needed by management.
  • Order machinery or materials when required
  • Maintain project schedules as planned

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering or a relevant field is required.
  • 1-5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with robotic arc and resistance welding.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and controls applications.
  • Understanding of PLC, sensor, and vision system.
  • Strong understanding of various quality and inspection standard practices.
  • Ability to work with several different processes for example, robotic painting, stamping, pipe bending, MIG/TIG welding, robotic assembly cells. (not all required)
  • Lean manufacturing and six sigma experience.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Ability to focus on goal and obtain predetermined results.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.
  • Ability to meet daily, weekly, and monthly goals set by management and self.

 

Skill and Abilities

  • Work with AutoCAD, Solidworks, or Catia.
  • Microsoft Outlook.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • QAD
  • Ability to train others.
