Continental Inc is looking to hire an experienced Production Manager in Anderson, Indiana. This position is responsible for managing and directing production activities within an industrial manufacturing facility



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements departmental goals, action plans and objectives.
  • Responsible for balancing safety, productivity, quality, cost, delivery and associate relations to meet company objectives and continuously improve in all areas.
  • Recommends and implements strategic changes in manufacturing and operations strategy.
  • Initiates and conducts periodic reviews of manufacturing strategy, including equipment reliability/capability, capacity planning and quality improvement.
  • Establishes and implements short and long-range departmental goals & metrics, objectives, policies, operating procedures, and regular reporting of results.
  • Establishes/maintains a culture of continuous improvement, and oversees the execution of projects designed to reduce process variability, improve quality, and reduce waste and unnecessary product costs.
  • Safety & 5S: Leads the effort to maintain a safe and organized working environment, insuring full compliance with local, state and federal (EPA and OSHA) regulations, initiating safety improvements, and ensuring that all associates are trained in the proper and safe use of production related equipment.
  • Associate Relations: Manages all areas of associate relations including applicant interviewing, performance review, discipline, coaching, counseling, staff development and maintaining positive associate relations.
  • Productivity: Creates efficient line layouts, prepare operations standards, and manage staffing levels to meet daily production needs and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Quality & Delivery: Ensures proper associate training and initiates processes that ensure in-line quality and on-time delivery to the customer.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensures that all equipment, automation, and machines are working properly to ensure customer delivery schedules are met.
  • Supervises, trains and develops staff.
  • Completes special assignments as requested.


Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education & experience.

  • 5+ years of previous management experience in plant operations; demonstrated success in a management role in a manufacturing or industrial facility.

  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing practices, 5S workplace, machine reliability, waste reduction, visual factory management.
  • Excellent planning, organization, leadership, presentation, decision making, analytical, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, coach, counsel and train.
  • Ability to effectively create and maintain a teamwork environment.
  • Strong computer and math skills.
  • Must be able to organize, plan, allocate resources and prioritize in order meet multiple overlapping and competing deadlines
  • Previous experience in automotive manufacturing or in a multi-cultural environment a plus.
  • Ability to travel to supplier and/or customer sites with minimal advance notice. Overnight and international travel may be required.
